Rockin' and Rollin'

Kolby has the rolling thing down! He still gets upset at times when he wants to move but towards the end of the day, he is rolling all over the place. Yesterday he actually rolled in 3 straight series of back to tummy to back. He made it across the room! After he does it he always looks up at us like, "What did I just do?" I can't believe he is getting so big. Before long he will be crawling!

Let it Snow!

Kolby had his first experience with snow this week! It is icy and snowy combined. It started Monday afternoon. It began as a nightmare! Kolby stayed at my parents on Monday due to the sitter's baby being sick. We dismissed school an hour early so I started to head home. The highway was a mess! People were going too fast and ran of the road and people were just not being causious. I ended up sitting at the bottom of a high for almost 45 minutes due to a wreck. My parents were going to bring Kolby to our house but they tried to get out and couldn't make it down the road. It was to big a chance with him. So, I had to head that way since Kolby didn't have enough food for another bottle. It wasn't to bad but I did barely make it over. I almost got stuck once but wore my tires out getting there. Once I got there we decided not to leave. Thus, we stayed the night.

Tuesday Clint came and got us. The roads were somewhat better but not by much. That first night we got about 1 1/2 inches of ice. Tuesday we added about 4 inches of snow! Needless to say, I haven't been to school. Maybe Friday I can make it in.

Since it was Kolby's first snow, we decided to take him outside for a few minutes to try it out. He didn't have a snow suit so we just layered him up. He wasn't sure what to make of it. At one point he started to cry. I think he got cold. I brought him in and changed his clothes. It took a while to get him to calm down.

Below are some pictures!

A little update on our 6 mo. old

WOW... it is amazing how much they change. We took Kolby to the doctor last Monday. He now weighs 16 lbs, 8 oz (almost double what he was when born) and is 27 in. long. This puts him in the 90% for length and 40% for weight. I asked the doctor about he weight and she said it was alright and he was gaining just find.

Kolby has also starting more baby food. We did bananas this past week and will start apples next week. I am enjoying making my own baby food. It really is very simple and fun to do! I just use a food processor to blend it all up with lots of water. Then I pour the food into ice cube trays and freeze overnight. After that I pop them into a plastic bag labeled with date. Now I just grab a cube or two for his dinner. It is a little more work than grabbing it off the shelves at the store but will be cheaper in the long run. I made 20 meals of apples for less than $3 rather than $1 a meal from the store. We will be doing pears, apricots, plums with prunes, avocados, peas, and sweat potatoes coming up. We do about 4 days of a new food before adding in another. He seems to really like it.

I also got blessed with spending a few extra days at home with Kolby. On Wednesday I got a message from my sitter that her daughter had RSV. RSV is a very contagious respiratory virus dangerous to young babies. It can lead to pnemonia and bronchitis. Kaylie (the sitter's daughter) woke up with a high fever so they took her to the doctor and was told it was RSV. To be on the safe side I decided to leave school to go get him. I also took off Thursday as well. This gave time for Michelle (sitter) to take care of her daughter. I called on Thursday to see if she could watch him on Friday but they ened up taking her little one to the hospital. She stayed overnight for 2 nights and was able to return home on Saturday. Kolby will be able to go back on Tuesday. I did call the doctor to see if Kolby was at risk and he had been exposed but is doing good. It starts like a bad cold so I have been watching for signs of RSV that include extra mucus, extra sleepy / cranky, and coughing. He has been doing good!

He is our tough little boy! Sorry, no pictures this time.

Christmas Pictures!

Sorry it has been a while but I have been busy. You woud have thought with a 2 week break I would have time but nope! I was to busy visiting family and playing with Kolby I didn't have much time for anything else. I am going to take advantage of his naptime to post some new milestones and a lot of pictures!

First off, he is rolling over a little more. He has rolled from back to tummy once at the sitters and twice this morning. Before long he will get the hang of it and will be all over the place. Michelle, the sitter, says Kaylie and Kolby "talk' at her house and play really hard. She adjusted Kaylie's schedule to fit with Kolby's so they have the same wake schedule. Kolby comes home really worn out. He still takes an evening nap at around 7:15-8:30. He gets a bath around 9:30 and in bed by 10. He slept for 2 nights straight all the way until 5ish. That works great for me!

We also began rice cereal the week after Christmas. It was a little before the 6 month mark suggested by the doctor but I wanted to have the opportunity to get him used to eating solids while I was still on break. We are going to wait until his doctor's appointment on the 19th to see where to go from there. I read so many different things and hear how different doctors suggest different things. One lady said her ped told her to give her 6 month old cheerios. That doesn't sound right to me. When it comes down to it, Clint and I are the parents and will do what we feel is best.

So, here are a couple of pictures of his first taste of cereal. It took a few days to get the acquired taste.

For Christmas, the 3 of us and the dog when to Clint's parents house at Lake Pomme de Terre. I love to go up there and hang out. It is such a relaxing experience. We went up the Tuesday before Christmas and spend 3 nights and left the day after Christmas. We had WONDERFUL food and great family time. Clint and I learned how to play cribbage. Kevin, Shawna and Marrin came up Christmas afternoon. Here are some pictures!

Kolby got the cutest hat and glove combo from Carter's. Shawna picked it out and it was adorable. Isn't he cute or should I say handsome?

Kolby also got some clothes from Carter's as well as a few toys from Nana and Papa. Kolby's big present was a savings bond from Nana and Papa. Thanks!

Like I said before, we had great food. For Christmas dinner, Clint and Larry prepared a seafood buffet with lobster, crab legs, scallops, and shrimp. It was so much food!
