I got a newer version of photoshop after my last one got lost when my laptop crashed. I am having way to much fun with some of the great features editing the photos. Here are 2 that I have been playing with today.
This was taken with my mom's phone so the photo quality was a little low.
You see this effect done a lot with professional photos.
Today Clint and I took advantage of my day off and took Kolby to go see Santa Claus at Bass Pro. It was a really nice setup. We were able to take our own photos and they even gave us one for free. Since it was a snowy Monday we didn't have to wait in line and everyone was very friendly! It was a great experience. Kolby didn't really know what to think. He had just woken up from a nap and wasn't in his happiest mood. But we really went more to get his first photo with Santa. Next year it will mean more to him perhaps!
I was working on Christmas cards and looked up and Kolby was on his tummy! I am so sorry I missed it. :( He was looking all proud and smiling up at me. It was like he was saying "Mommy look what I can do!"
Well, it is a few weeks after the Thanksgiving Holiday but I am just now able to get on and share our first Thanksgiving with Kolby.
Clint and I have started the tradition of having Thanksgiving at our house. Michelle and Larry (Clint's Parents) came down on Wednesday to hang out and help make some side dishes for our meal the next day. They were also able to hang out with the Kolbster! On Thursday, my family and Clint's came together for a wonderful holiday meal.
Kolby also had his first bath in the bathtub. It took us a few times to get the hang of it but we did. He is really likeing the extra room. Kolby is secretly hoping Santa will be bringing him bath toys for Christmas. I think his wish might come true.....
He loves his excersaucer! He has gotten so big. He can stand up into it and grab at the toys. He moves around. He also drools alot in it. Haven't figured that one out yet! Marrin even loved to play with him in it.
Kyle got some snuggle time in with his nephew. Kolby was wondering exactly who had him. This was the second time Kyle has seen him.
Kolby also likes to have time on the belly and has been really interested in Kacee.
And of course we have to have the great cute picture!
He rolled over! He did it just now. I had my computer out getting ready to do the dreaded grad school work (almost done!) and he got fussy in his exersaucer. So, I got down on the floor to play. He didn't do tummy time today so I placed him on his tummy. He instantly rolled over! I think he scared himself. I am glad I was here to see it. I can't wait until Clint gets home to see if Kolby will do it again!
So, on a less exciting note, we went to the doctors on Tuesday for his 4 month old check up. Clint was able to go this time and witness the dreaded shots. Both guys did better than mom! Kolby weighs 14.7 lbs and is 26 inches long. He is average for weight but on the tall side. What a growing man! We also had to talk to the doctor about feeding. Kolby takes anywhere from 10-15 oz a day while I am gone and I am only able to replenish 9 oz on a good day. So, the doctor told us to start using formula in additon to breast milk. So, when I am gone he gets 2 oz of formula and 3 oz of breast milk. He did great with this on Saturday so we will see how it continues!
We had a busy week this past week. My friend Melissa got married and we were attending all her events. On Thursday we had the rehearsal. Kolby went with me as I helped perpare for the ceramony. He was very content and was flirty with all the ladies! He was all smiles and everyone couldn't believe how well behaved he was! On Friday we stopped by Melissa's and Naj to say hello. He got to hang out with Aubrey (Mel's neice) and was given a lot of attention. Saturday hr spent the day at Momma D's while I went to the wedding. Clint joined me later and we had a blast! Then today we meet everyone at Maria's for brunch. It was a great time. He is probably glad we got to hang at home most of the day. We were both so exhausted we napped together. I love those times. My favorite part of the day is when he first wakes up to eat. I pull him into bed with me while he eats. It is such a simple time.
And as a side note, I have almost lost all my baby weight! I have stalled at about 3 lbs to go! I am sure that won't be the case after Thanksgiving!
Again... it feels like time flies and he just keeps getting bigger. He is SO close to rolling over. It could be any day now, I just hope I am there to see it. He stretches to see what is around him and one day he will surprise himself by turning over. He is also getting good at holding his head up for long periods and controlling it. I put him in his exer-saucer and he likes to be in it so he can look up and around. He accidently hits the toys which makes noise and he likes that!
Our parent as teachers lady came by and said he was looking good. He is extremely vocal and she said that is great for his age. I guess he is going to take after his momma in the talking department. Clint and I are both good at talking to him and explaining what we are doing. The PAT lady also said to place mirrors around him. He likes to look in the mirror while he is being changed.
Another new discovery: HIS TONGUE!!! He has been sticking it out and he leaves it there. HE also chews on it as if it wasn't suppose to be there. It is really cute to watch! He also likes to hold his pacifier. He is good at taking things to and from his mouth and now he holds his paci. Today he actually took it back to his mouth! It is amazing how the little things are such achievements!
So, I haven't posted pictures for a while because I have been busy and I left my camera at the in-laws. I got it back so here are a LOT of pictures. Enjoy!
Kolby is 3 months old in this picture. I got a great idea from my blog to use the same stuffed animal to place him by to measure his growth.
So, here he is at 4 months old! How he has grown.
I bought this car coat for Kolby but it was to big! He thought it was funny that I was struggling to get him into the car seat!
So, I took the above one and found this one. A lady makes them on the internet. It is REALLY warm. I had to take the inner part out for now. He thought it was fun to be in. Nice and cozy!
We went trick or treating with Marrin. They were so cute!
Here he is sticking his tongue out!
Great Grandmother Gordon came for a visit. She was at the grandparents while Clint and I went to a Kansas City Chiefs game. He got more attention than he signed up for. It took us a while to get him back on schedule but it was worth it. He deserves to be spoiled!
Okay, just some extras I had taken for the cuteness factor!
It has been a little over a month since I last posted a blog. I apologize for this but it has been crazy! I have a 3 month picture to post of Kolby but it is on my digital camera. I also have many Halloween pictures of Kolby trick or treating with Marrin but they are also on my camera. I will get them posted as soon as I get my camera back. (I left it at my brother and sister in laws house.)
So I will post the pictures I have from my phone. The first is of Kolby in his Halloween costume. He wore a green monster / dinosaur outfit. We had fun. I carried him for a little while trick-or-treating at Tanger with Marrin. Marrin kept telling everyone Kolby doesn't need candy because he doesn't have teeth. She is so smart!!!!
Kolby is sleeping under his play yard. He wore himself out!
Another one of the little dude sleeping peacefully!
This was taken a long time ago at the mall. He was riding around in a carrier. I thought I would add it to the blog!
(Sorry if the quality isn't as good as other pictures. These came off my phone.)
Sorry it has been so long since my last post. It has gotten really busy for the McKoy house hold. I am into the full swing at school. I have been there for 3 weeks now and it is EXTREMELY hard for me to balance it all. My class this year is proving to be a challenge for me. In past years I could give my students some independent work and I could get some things done in the classroom. This year this hasn't been an option. So, it requires a lot more time at home for me to stay caught up. I was saying I felt like my head was barely above the water. Now I feel like I am making some movement forward!
To top it off I am also deep into my graduate work. At least this class is easy and I somewhat enjoy it. I can normally complete all the homework in a few hours on the weekends. This week I won't be able to so it will present a new challenge. I am so close to being done. I hope to finish this summer. And, as crazy as it is, I want to get my doctorate right after. I don't wan to stop or I might never get started again.
Now to the kiddo. Kolby grows and grows. He has discovered he has hands! He loves to look at them and chew on them. He even likes his Mommy and Daddy's hands. He gets more alert each day and it is wonderful. I have even been blessed with 2 whole nights of sleep! I still wake up during the normal feeding times because Kolby gets restless and makes noise. I just leave him alone and he falls right back to sleep. Hopefully he will stop this restlessness and I won't wake up at all!!!
Kolby has also gotten into the habit of pooping in the bathtub. In this past week he has pooped in the tub 3 times! It is so gross but I actually found myself telling Clint, "It is just poop" as he was trying to clean it up. When in your life does that phrase come up a lot? Life with a baby I guess!!!
Now some pictures-
Michelle (Babysitter) took these for me when she was watching Kolby. Kolby and Kaylie- Michelle's Daughter
We went to Silver Dollar City this past weekend. I took the opportunity to takes some pics.
I am a 3rd grade teacher and am in my last class of graduate school. It will be great to finish and have those extra hours of study to spend with my ever growing little boy!
