2 months old

Kolby made it to the 2 month old mark! He is doing great. He is really interested in the world around him. He loves anything bright and colorful. He also loves to look at faces and hear songs.

Today we went to the doctor for the 2 month check up and shots. Poor thing got 5 shots. The nurse was awesome and it was over very quickly. My mom helped him during the ordeal and I came in to rescue him when it was over. He cried and screamed but settled down with me as I fed him. He has been a little cranky this evening.

He is now 25 inches long. That puts him in the 95th percentile for length. He weights a whopping 12 lbs and 11 ounces! That puts him the 75th percentile for weight. He is a growing boy. He is already wear 3-6 month clothes. He just keeps getting bigger.

He is also doing better with sleep. For 3 days in a row he skipped a nighttime feeding. I am getting about 5 hours of continuous sleep so it helps.

GO Kansas City Chiefs! This was Kolby's first chance to watch the Kansas City Chiefs in regular season action. They played the New England Patriots. It was an interesting game that the Chiefs lost in the end. We didn't care. We still cheer on our team!

Last weekend Kolby went with me to school to get ready for my first full week back. We wore our Chiefs stuff again but they didn't do any better! Kolby is hanging out in my new chair for school. He looked so comfy!

Someone suggested taking Kolby's picture each month next to the same object. I chose to do it next to my Kansas City Chiefs bear. So, this is his 2 month old picture! SO BIG!

Mommy Dee got Kolby this activity mat to play with. He loves to look at a lot of different objects so we thought this would be perfect! He loves to watch all the sea creatures. It even plays music Photobucket

Going back to work!

This week I have started to go back to work parttime. I am getting used to waking up in the morning and getting us both ready and out the door. So far so good! I leave myself some extra time just in case. We are blessed with a great sitter. Michelle is doing a great job spoiling him. He loves to go to her. He almost always falls asleep when he goes to her. I know he is in great hands!

Next week will be a challenge for us both. I go back full time and have tutoring starting. Monday is a 12 hour day since I have eMINTS training. My class is also presenting a challenge. They need the reins tightened in. I don't think I will have any problem. My sub did a great job getting things started and there will be a transition period moving from a sub to me. I am excited to get back!

Kolby has his 2 month appointment and will be recieving 5 shots. I am taking my mom with me because I don't think I can handle it.

Here is a picture my mom took when she was watching Kolby. She was loving on him while I was at my parent orientation for school.

Milestones

Boy is this kid growing and changing. Recently he discovered he has hands. He sucks on them and tries all the fingers. I don't want him to start sucking his thumb so I give him his paci as soon as that starts. Otherwise I let him explore.

He is also looking around a lot more. He loves to see movement and changes. He can follow someone walking across the room.

Last night Kolby slept from 10:30 until 3! This was great. Daddy and I kept him awake from 7:30 until his bath at 10:30. He only took a short nap before that. I think it helped him stay asleep longer. I also think his nighttime routine is starting to trigger the longer sleeping cycle. Here's to a good nights rest!

Time at the Lake

Clint was fortunate to have Labor Day weekend off so we packed up our bags and headed to Lake Pomme de Terre to spend time with his parents. We hadn't been up since Christmas! We did discover it takes a lot more work and stuff to get out of the house with the baby. But we kept it to the essentials. Kolby had a blast. He was spoiled rotten by Nana Michele. She held him and loved on him the whole time. Kolby just loved it! I didn't mind he was getting all the attention. It allowed me a chance to relax and know he was getting his share of love from his grandparents. Clint also relaxed but also helped his dad power wash the house. All in all it was a great short trip. We were only there one night but made the most of it. I hope to go back soon! I did include some pictures of the lake. I also added additional ones I took throughout the week.

Also, I go back to work on Monday. I will be doing mornings for the next week and back to full time on the 15th. There is a part of me that is looking forward to it. However it will be hard to say good bye to Kolby each morning. At least I am blessed with a career that allows me to be a mom as well.

Offically 6 Weeks Old

On Wednesday Kolby turned 6 weeks old! I can't believe it. At times if feels like he got here yesterday but at other times it feels like he was been with us our whole lives. I guess it is just hard to imagine our life before him. It all seems like a blurr now!

Yesterday I had my 6 week appointment. All is well! I am healing nicely but still have a ways to go. He said I won't be fully healed for about a year. I was told I could start exercising with caution. Grant it, I am not a big workout person but I would like to start taking walks and doing some yoga. The rule of thumb is basically if it hurts, I did to much! I can follow that. On an even better note I have lost another 8 lbs! I only have 11 to go before I reach my prepregnancy weight.

Kolby and my mom went with me yesterday and we continued to shop around in Springfield. Kolby is growing so fast I needed some pants that would fit him. I also wanted to get some outfits as well. He is so long that it is hard to find stuff to fit him. Some of the clothes are 3-6 months but most are 0-3. I know every parent has these issues! It all depends on the brand. I am also in the hunt for pants. I think the pregnancy paired with my age changed my hips drastically. My prepregnancy pants don't fit around the hips or through the crouch area right anymore. So, I am getting rid of all of them and starting over. It was time to get rid of them anyways. I had more than I wore and some of them are from college! Luckily my birthday is around the corner. :)

Other than that we are doing good. Kolby had his first blown out diaper this morning. He had poop up to his shoulder blades and all over me. Oh well, it happens. At least he is able to take full bathes! We are going to start giving these each night as part of a bedtime routine. He likes them and I love the bonding time. So, I included some pics. Enjoy!

Kolby is wearing a shirt that says: "Daddy and I love football" They were watching the Chiefs preseason game against Miami Dolphins. To bad the Chiefs did horrible.

Doesn't he look cozy. He is starting to like his swing.

Granddaddy came by for a visit and got some cuddle time in.

And now for the bath pictures. We have to have something to threaten him with when he starts to date. (He is actually peeing in the first picture!)

Here he is sleeping. His jammies say "Dad's Little Rookie." I forgot I had these and they are newborn size. He only wore them once because they were getting too small! He had to wear them once for a picture.

Loving every minute!

I am officially back on maternity leave! Last Thursday I had my first day of school. I was lucky I had someone else to start off with because it was a hectic day. It began with my parents picking Kolby up around 6:30 am. It was hard to see him go. I knew he would be in good hands and spoiled. My dad took the day off especially to spend with Kolby.

After they left I got ready to go. I carpooled with a friend to work so it took my mind off of missing my son. Once I was at school I needed to pump. So, I sat in my closet and got plugged it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to produce much. I think the stress and axiety of the day was going to get me. Oh well, I would try again at lunch.

They day continued with me trying to squeeze in as much as I could. There never seems to be enough time. I tried to pump again at lunch and didn't have much more success. I felt rushed and it was my first chance to sit down. Hopefully once I go back to work full time it won't be this way. I took a moment to call my parents. Dad answered and when I asked how things were going he sounded disappointed. I thought something might have been wrong but he was sad that Kolby was sleeping all day. He wanted to play! He will be able to all in good time.

Once school was over I reviewed what I needed to with my sub and left. It was hard to leave everything in her hands but I am a mom now and can't do it all. (Unfortunately)

I hurried to my parents to feed Kolby. I was looking forward to the contact It seems he was well taken care of and spoiled, just as I knew he would be.

So, for the past few days we have been taking it easy. He has been a little more clingy. He is starting to recognize his parents and turning to face us when he talks. He loves to look at us. He is also spending ALOT more time awake. For example, today he woke for the morning at 6:15 am. I fed him and we cuddled and snoozed until around 7. He again woke up but didn't want to eat. We laid together and talked. I finally put him in his rocker and he hung out. He finally fell asleep around 9:30. He then slept until 10:15am. He is going a lot longer between feedings. This does lead to him fighting sleep more as he is adjusting. Last night he was a grumpy monster when it came time to sleep. He took a short 20 minutes nap and when he woke up I made sure he ate really good. I then dressed him and put him down for the night around 10 pm. He woke up again at 1 for a feeding. He didn't eat very long (15 mins) and woke again around 3am. He ate better this time and slept until 6:15ish. This helps so I am getting long periods of sleeping time. Luckily I am getting used to the ups and downs during the night!

Clint and I truely blessed to have such a well-tempered baby. His fussy times are very minimual and easily managed. We love it!

Pictures as Promised!

WOW! I am tired... there is a reason maternity leave is 6 weeks and not 4. I have helped my sub get ready for school and tomorrow we will get everything going. I will be spending the whole day at school and then turning it over to her. I am looking forward to my 2 weeks and a week of half days. I want to be able to get Kolby on a better schedule again. He has been a GREAT baby hanging out with me. I can't believe it. He just needs to be ready to GO, GO, Go with me as a mommy.

Okay.... now for the pictures. :)

Bill and Tracy came over to visit and deliever some food. (Which was WONDERFUL!) They also got some cuddle time in with Kolby. Paige also got a chance to pass on some love.

Kacee is still getting used to the idea of Kolby. She can be jealous but does great. I am having a hard time giving her the attention she is used to.
