Our Little Boy is 4 months old!

Again... it feels like time flies and he just keeps getting bigger. He is SO close to rolling over. It could be any day now, I just hope I am there to see it. He stretches to see what is around him and one day he will surprise himself by turning over. He is also getting good at holding his head up for long periods and controlling it. I put him in his exer-saucer and he likes to be in it so he can look up and around. He accidently hits the toys which makes noise and he likes that!

Our parent as teachers lady came by and said he was looking good. He is extremely vocal and she said that is great for his age. I guess he is going to take after his momma in the talking department. Clint and I are both good at talking to him and explaining what we are doing. The PAT lady also said to place mirrors around him. He likes to look in the mirror while he is being changed.

Another new discovery: HIS TONGUE!!! He has been sticking it out and he leaves it there. HE also chews on it as if it wasn't suppose to be there. It is really cute to watch! He also likes to hold his pacifier. He is good at taking things to and from his mouth and now he holds his paci. Today he actually took it back to his mouth! It is amazing how the little things are such achievements!

So, I haven't posted pictures for a while because I have been busy and I left my camera at the in-laws. I got it back so here are a LOT of pictures. Enjoy!

Kolby is 3 months old in this picture. I got a great idea from my blog to use the same stuffed animal to place him by to measure his growth.

So, here he is at 4 months old! How he has grown.

I bought this car coat for Kolby but it was to big! He thought it was funny that I was struggling to get him into the car seat!

So, I took the above one and found this one. A lady makes them on the internet. It is REALLY warm. I had to take the inner part out for now. He thought it was fun to be in. Nice and cozy!

Great Grandmother Gordon came for a visit. She was at the grandparents while Clint and I went to a Kansas City Chiefs game. He got more attention than he signed up for. It took us a while to get him back on schedule but it was worth it. He deserves to be spoiled!

Sorry we have been missing in action!

It has been a little over a month since I last posted a blog. I apologize for this but it has been crazy! I have a 3 month picture to post of Kolby but it is on my digital camera. I also have many Halloween pictures of Kolby trick or treating with Marrin but they are also on my camera. I will get them posted as soon as I get my camera back. (I left it at my brother and sister in laws house.)

So I will post the pictures I have from my phone. The first is of Kolby in his Halloween costume. He wore a green monster / dinosaur outfit. We had fun. I carried him for a little while trick-or-treating at Tanger with Marrin. Marrin kept telling everyone Kolby doesn't need candy because he doesn't have teeth. She is so smart!!!!

Kolby is sleeping under his play yard. He wore himself out!

This was taken a long time ago at the mall. He was riding around in a carrier. I thought I would add it to the blog!

Wow.. it has been a while

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. It has gotten really busy for the McKoy house hold. I am into the full swing at school. I have been there for 3 weeks now and it is EXTREMELY hard for me to balance it all. My class this year is proving to be a challenge for me. In past years I could give my students some independent work and I could get some things done in the classroom. This year this hasn't been an option. So, it requires a lot more time at home for me to stay caught up. I was saying I felt like my head was barely above the water. Now I feel like I am making some movement forward!

To top it off I am also deep into my graduate work. At least this class is easy and I somewhat enjoy it. I can normally complete all the homework in a few hours on the weekends. This week I won't be able to so it will present a new challenge. I am so close to being done. I hope to finish this summer. And, as crazy as it is, I want to get my doctorate right after. I don't wan to stop or I might never get started again.

Now to the kiddo. Kolby grows and grows. He has discovered he has hands! He loves to look at them and chew on them. He even likes his Mommy and Daddy's hands. He gets more alert each day and it is wonderful. I have even been blessed with 2 whole nights of sleep! I still wake up during the normal feeding times because Kolby gets restless and makes noise. I just leave him alone and he falls right back to sleep. Hopefully he will stop this restlessness and I won't wake up at all!!!

Kolby has also gotten into the habit of pooping in the bathtub. In this past week he has pooped in the tub 3 times! It is so gross but I actually found myself telling Clint, "It is just poop" as he was trying to clean it up. When in your life does that phrase come up a lot? Life with a baby I guess!!!

Now some pictures-

Michelle (Babysitter) took these for me when she was watching Kolby.

2 months old

Kolby made it to the 2 month old mark! He is doing great. He is really interested in the world around him. He loves anything bright and colorful. He also loves to look at faces and hear songs.

Today we went to the doctor for the 2 month check up and shots. Poor thing got 5 shots. The nurse was awesome and it was over very quickly. My mom helped him during the ordeal and I came in to rescue him when it was over. He cried and screamed but settled down with me as I fed him. He has been a little cranky this evening.

He is now 25 inches long. That puts him in the 95th percentile for length. He weights a whopping 12 lbs and 11 ounces! That puts him the 75th percentile for weight. He is a growing boy. He is already wear 3-6 month clothes. He just keeps getting bigger.

He is also doing better with sleep. For 3 days in a row he skipped a nighttime feeding. I am getting about 5 hours of continuous sleep so it helps.

GO Kansas City Chiefs! This was Kolby's first chance to watch the Kansas City Chiefs in regular season action. They played the New England Patriots. It was an interesting game that the Chiefs lost in the end. We didn't care. We still cheer on our team!

Last weekend Kolby went with me to school to get ready for my first full week back. We wore our Chiefs stuff again but they didn't do any better! Kolby is hanging out in my new chair for school. He looked so comfy!

Someone suggested taking Kolby's picture each month next to the same object. I chose to do it next to my Kansas City Chiefs bear. So, this is his 2 month old picture! SO BIG!

Mommy Dee got Kolby this activity mat to play with. He loves to look at a lot of different objects so we thought this would be perfect! He loves to watch all the sea creatures. It even plays music Photobucket

Going back to work!

This week I have started to go back to work parttime. I am getting used to waking up in the morning and getting us both ready and out the door. So far so good! I leave myself some extra time just in case. We are blessed with a great sitter. Michelle is doing a great job spoiling him. He loves to go to her. He almost always falls asleep when he goes to her. I know he is in great hands!

Next week will be a challenge for us both. I go back full time and have tutoring starting. Monday is a 12 hour day since I have eMINTS training. My class is also presenting a challenge. They need the reins tightened in. I don't think I will have any problem. My sub did a great job getting things started and there will be a transition period moving from a sub to me. I am excited to get back!

Kolby has his 2 month appointment and will be recieving 5 shots. I am taking my mom with me because I don't think I can handle it.

Here is a picture my mom took when she was watching Kolby. She was loving on him while I was at my parent orientation for school.

Milestones

Boy is this kid growing and changing. Recently he discovered he has hands. He sucks on them and tries all the fingers. I don't want him to start sucking his thumb so I give him his paci as soon as that starts. Otherwise I let him explore.

He is also looking around a lot more. He loves to see movement and changes. He can follow someone walking across the room.

Last night Kolby slept from 10:30 until 3! This was great. Daddy and I kept him awake from 7:30 until his bath at 10:30. He only took a short nap before that. I think it helped him stay asleep longer. I also think his nighttime routine is starting to trigger the longer sleeping cycle. Here's to a good nights rest!

Time at the Lake

Clint was fortunate to have Labor Day weekend off so we packed up our bags and headed to Lake Pomme de Terre to spend time with his parents. We hadn't been up since Christmas! We did discover it takes a lot more work and stuff to get out of the house with the baby. But we kept it to the essentials. Kolby had a blast. He was spoiled rotten by Nana Michele. She held him and loved on him the whole time. Kolby just loved it! I didn't mind he was getting all the attention. It allowed me a chance to relax and know he was getting his share of love from his grandparents. Clint also relaxed but also helped his dad power wash the house. All in all it was a great short trip. We were only there one night but made the most of it. I hope to go back soon! I did include some pictures of the lake. I also added additional ones I took throughout the week.

Also, I go back to work on Monday. I will be doing mornings for the next week and back to full time on the 15th. There is a part of me that is looking forward to it. However it will be hard to say good bye to Kolby each morning. At least I am blessed with a career that allows me to be a mom as well.
